How to match your decor to your personality

As I've just moved into my new house, I've been looking into colour schemes and styles for my bedroom. I really want to make sure that I make the right choice, as different colours and themes of rooms create different moods, and I want it to match my personality. Here are some of my idea's to help you make the right choice when it comes to picking your bedroom.

First personality: The Extrovert!
Extroverts are constantly seeking an outlet for their energy and creativity and this is perfectly captured in this youthful and vibrant, yet comfortable and stylish bedroom.
Bright colours like the orange and yellow or hot pink & black contrast well and they are beautifully offset by the off-white floor and white rug and ceiling.

RUG: (Having too much of the bright colour overhead and underfoot could cramp the appearance of the room, making it seem small and poorly proportioned.) I think this simple rug made by Tesco is attractive enough to balance out the effect.

BEDROOM STORAGE UNIT: The most is made of the available space in the bedroom, by using open plan bedroom storage units. This Ikea bedroom storage unit has this extra edge that being fitted to the wall, it uses up very little, if any, floor space.

BRIGHT DUVETS: Bright duvets are my personal favorite. Choose two or three sets of bright bedding in colours that make you feel good and mix and match them every time you change your sheets to refresh and enliven your dÈcor scheme. You can use a hot pink and black duvet cover like this to brighten up your bedroom. I found this one online at YorkshireLinen.  Finish the bedroom look by adding proofs of your artistry and creativity, such as musical instruments, sketches that you have completed or simply adding pictures and ornaments that appeal to you.

Second Personality: The Introvert
Given to deep thought and usually having a love of reading and other similarly quiet yet cerebral activities, the introvert craves a peaceful haven for a bedroom. Opt for cool colours in harmonising shades with strong touches of neutrals and earth tones.
The room pictured is saving from ëbeige-nessí by the addition of duck egg blue curtains and a pastel pink lamp shade, gentle pops of colour that lift the dÈcor out of drab and into fab!

LAMP: Lamps really make an impact when you are decorating. This lamp is in-sync with what the introverts are looking for, comfort & peace.  It is an Affordable Lightning lamp.

VINTAGE CABINET:This vintage cabinet from Scara manga Shop has storage and adds calmness in the room.

VELVET CHAIR: The Velvet Chair Company can help you complete the look by this purple velvet chair.

Third Personality: Molly in the Middle!
This bedroom is perfectly poised between colourful exhibitionism and quiet restraint, offering both colourful beauty and charming relaxation. The bright pops of crimson add interest and liveliness to the dÈcor while the pale wood and cream bedding infuse the room with a sense of peace.
This look can be created by:

FLOWERS: Flowers are perfect to charm you up if you are in between extroverts and introverts and just want to live life as it is. I am self indulgent with Pro Flower's red roses.

CABINET & RUG: Way Fair has rugs and cabinets which can be supportive of this look.

These three ideas should give you some idea of how to go about achieving your dream bedroom, and how to fill the room with just the right amount of colour, ëbusy-nessí and depth to satisfy your inner interior designer. As I'm still in the process of choosing mine, I will do a post on what I have chosen as soon as I get everything set up. Some of my other idea's for bedrooms can be found in another post of mine here. I am somewhere in the middle of these personalities, so I think I will be finding a balance with a bold colour and softer shades - at the moment I am thinking of a deep, bold purple contrasting a soft, pastel grey (this could be in the furniture). I think now is the time for me to make my choice, and stick with it!
